Welcome

Welcome to the Blandford Hill Eco Hub. On this website we introduce the proposals to you, provide a way to get in touch with us and keep you informed on how the plans progress.

The Blandford Hill Eco Hub project consists of an electric vehicle (EV) charging station, a 15 megawatt ground-mounted solar farm and a 3 megawatt battery storage faciality on land south of the A354 at Blandford Hill, Winterborne Whitechurch near Blandford Forum in Dorset. By combining green electricity generation, storage and charging, we’re maximising the green potential with charging for up to 19 EVs at a time.

After starting the public consultation process for the plans in February 2021, the planning application was submitted to Dorset Council in July 2021. Having taken feedback from statutory consultees and members of the public into consideration, the plans have evolved significantly during this time, for example:

  • the proposed café/shop building has been reduced in height from 2 storeys to 1 storey

  • a permissive footpath has been added that links in with a local public rights of way, enabling safe pedestrian access between the village of Winterborne Whitechurch and the eco hub

  • the proposed number of charging points has increased from 12 to 19

  • the proposed battery storage containers are now fenced in to screen them from view

  • the number of trees and hedges have been increased to provide greater ecological benefits while screening the eco hub from many views and helping it blend into its rural surroundings

Dorset Council’s application reference is P/FUL/2021/02622. To view the application documents and comment on the plans, please [click here].
